The membership booklist is a comprehensive listing of books and other resources in the possession of the Society's membership. This list is accessible only for members of the SHS. This is an invaluable resource which is shared by the membership, in which anyone requesting a reference or possibly a lookup on a particular subject in a book or reference not in the possession of the requester would be fielded by another member who has this particular publication or book. This facility is designed to share the knowledge and expertise of those members who have such references in order to collectively enhance the knowledge and appreciation of heraldry amongst the Society's membership.
How does this work?
The individual applying for membership must fill out an online membership application form. It is during the filling out of the application form, that the individual is encouraged to list the heraldry related publications in their possession. These resources would then be added to the membership booklist, categorized accordingly. Each resource will be annotated with the member's initials linked to their secured email address so that the member can contact the owner of that resource directly for information. The sharing of their resources is a requirement of membership, although it is not necessary to have in the individual's possession heraldry related material in order to join the Society.
Members of the Society are encouraged to contact the booklist administrator (instructions on the booklist page) to update the listing to include new acquisitions to the list and therefore, ensure the booklist is up to date. As the number of members grow, and the volume of material in their possession grows, the booklist will become an invaluable resource for any member engaged in heraldic research.
